Enum - LifecycleState

Key: enum.lifecycleState

Marks whether a reading is the first reading of a newly installed gauge (initial), the last reading before it is replaced (final), or a normal reading in between (reading, the default). Used downstream by Processing to recognize meter-replacement boundaries — a transition between final and initial must not be treated as a normal delta/monotonicity continuation of the same physical measurement. Not part of the composite dedup identity of reading — a gaugeId represents a metering point, not a physical device, so identity persists across a meter replacement. lifecycleState is therefore the mechanism (not a gaugeId change) by which downstream logic recognizes a replacement boundary. The process for setting this value is the Meter Replacement Flow — the only path allowed to create a final value, always paired with a following initial in the same transaction.

Values

ValueDescription
initialThe first reading recorded for a newly installed physical meter, immediately after a replacement.
readingA normal, ongoing reading — the default value.
finalThe last reading recorded for a physical meter before it is replaced.
