Enum - GaugeDirection

Key: enum.gaugeDirection

Defines the flow direction of energy measured by the gauge, following DLMS/COSEM convention relative to the grid/supply. Stored at the gauge level — all readings from a gauge share the same direction. The user never selects raw DLMS values directly; the UI presents context-sensitive human-readable options per medium (e.g. "Production (FVE, CHP)" maps to export) and stores the correct canonical value automatically.

  • Non-directional sensors (KVP: temperature, humidity, CO₂) always use null.
  • All other media (electricity, gas, water, heat, fuel, phm) are directional — often import-only, but heat can also be export (e.g. heat delivered to district heating from a cogeneration source). The raw direction value is never shown to or set by the user directly for any medium — it is derived automatically from the selected Gauge Purpose Option (see Gauge Management → Purpose-driven Gauge Creation).

Values

ValueDescription
importEnergy flowing into the building or sub-circuit from the grid or main supply point. DLMS/COSEM OBIS group D = 8. UI labels vary by context.
exportEnergy flowing out of the building to the grid or production from an on-site source. DLMS/COSEM OBIS group D = 2. UI labels vary by context.
nullUsed for non-directional sensors (KVP).
